Last Tuesday UWBEC participated in the Hometown Huddle with the Buffalo Bills; the event fit perfectly into our Health and Wellness platform.  This year Hometown Huddle took place at the Buffalo Zoo – children participating learned about how to have a healthy lifestyle and how to be nutritious while also getting to interact with the Buffalo Bills and volunteers, play games, and get snacks and gift bags.

The event was broken down into three stations – a nutrition program with the American Dairy Association, where children made smoothies with a nutritionist, a Jump with Jill station where kids had high impact entertainment and exercise, and a recharge obstacle course/activity station with the Buffalo Bills.

The children rotated between stations so everyone had an opportunity to interact with the Bills and do all the activities available. In total 110 children participated, coming from the African American Cultural Center, Concerned Ecumenical Ministry and Valley Community Association. The kids had a great time, and were able to learn about staying healthy and eating right. It was another Hometown Huddle success!
